Congratulations to our Art Therapists

We’re delighted to start off the new year sharing some wonderful news celebrating the outstanding contributions of our Art Therapists at Edinburgh Rape Crisis Centre.

Congratulations to: our Art Therapists ⁠Lillian Shipton and Heather Dimarco, who were awarded the Inclusive and Anti-Oppressive Practice Award by the British Association of Art Therapists for their inclusive art therapy groups for survivors of sexual violence at Edinburgh Rape Crisis Centre. ⁠⁠

Against a back-drop of financial instability for rape crisis centres, Heather and Lillian have not only sustained their art therapy groups but also deepened their commitment to ensuring that no survivor is left without access to vital creative and therapeutic support, regardless of their gender expression or identity.

Awards were given after a thorough review by a panel of esteemed judges, including MP Sonia Kumar. We’re grateful to all the judges, and everyone who made a nomination.
